A Catholic refugee contends with her faith, as the institution she believes in falters.
The untold truth of escape and absolution, where the Church and Red Cross harbour notorious war criminals for political gain.

In the chaos of post war Europe, millions are on the move. Displaced persons camps are a ubiquitous sight, offering basic necessities and care, as governments determine how to best repair a broken continent.

Among those desperate for a fresh start, is Zofia Zeller. A Polish Catholic forced from her home early in the war, she has spent much of the time since in the care and service of a Benedictine Monastery turned camp in Schwaz, Austria.

When two guarded men arrive into her care she considers little of their background or intent. But as she nurses one to health, and is obliged to accompany him on their journey south to Italy, she is confronted with an uncomfortable truth.

That the Catholic Church is systematically harbouring Nazi war criminals and enabling safe passage to freedom, with the aid of Red Cross identification papers.

And as complicit individuals hide behind the institutions they serve, she soon realizes they all – allied governments, aid agencies, even the Pope himself – know what’s happening and do nothing to stop it.
